What is Probate Court in Illinois?

Probate Court in Illinois is the local court that handles all probate and guardianship matters in a given county, or said differently, is the local court that handles all estate administrations (whether living or deceased estates).  In most counties in Illinois, the same judge who handles decedent probate matters also handles all guardianship matters as well.  However, in the Cook County Probate court system, due to the large volume of decedent Estates and guardianship Estates, there are several judges who handle only decedent Estate cases or only guardianship Estate cases.
